Joel has always been fascinated by microbial symbioses, and scientific questions linking microorganisms to broader ecological processes - particularly when linked to conservation outcomes, as in the context of coral bleaching. He is particularly interested in the beneficial microbes for corals (BMC) concept and its potential to secure a future for coral reefs in a changing ocean, so is delighted to be visiting the M&Ms lab as a VSRP intern.
