Biography

Alessandro is a marine scientist with a strong background in coral physiology, symbiosis, and microbiome research. His work combines laboratory and field-based approaches to investigate coral health, resilience, and responses to environmental stress. He has experience in coral spawning, larval rearing, physiological assays, and the development of innovative probiotic delivery systems for coral conservation. His research integrates concepts and techniques from marine biology, microbiology, and biotechnology to better understand and protect coral reef ecosystems. Alessandro is also a certified Divemaster and has extensive field experience supporting coral reef research, monitoring, and restoration initiatives.

Research Interests

My research focuses on understanding the physiological and microbial mechanisms that drive coral health, resilience, and recovery under environmental stress. I am particularly interested in developing microbiome-based conservation strategies, including probiotic approaches for coral restoration, and applying interdisciplinary tools from marine biology, microbiology, and biotechnology to address the challenges facing coral reefs in a rapidly changing ocean.
