Representing the Marine Microbiomes Lab, Giovanna Sabini-Leite, Lara Kalisch, Vivian Molina, Faisal Gadi and Vera Costa, and in collaboration with the Coastal Marine Services Core Labs team, hosted approximately 150 students from The KAUST School (TKS) for a session to bridge the classroom and the reef conservation experiments ongoing at KAUST.

The research team demonstrated how microbial therapies are being used to protect corals from rising sea temperatures and students were given a rare view of active experiments, witnessing how probiotic treatments are applied to coral colonies to boost their resilience.

This educational outreach highlights the ongoing partnership between the Marine Microbiomes lab, KAUST’s research departments, and the local school community, hoping to inspire students.
