The EcoFAB 2025, dedicated to "Advancing Mechanistic Microbial Science Using Fabricated Ecosystems," counted with the presence of Prof Raquel Peixoto to showcase the pioneering work in developing coral probiotics. This involved sharing a practical framework for discovering, formulating, and deploying Beneficial Microorganisms for Corals (BMCs)—specifically discussing how fabricated ecosystems, like the Coral Probiotics Village at KAUST, are used to conduct reproducible trials that validate the ability of these microbes to enhance coral resilience, mitigate bleaching, and prevent mortality.
