Professor Raquel Peixoto's, co-leader and co-founder, of the IUCN Microbial Conservation Specialist Group (MCSG), the first official global body dedicated to protecting microbial life. Representing KAUST, Prof Raquel co-led the group, alongside Prof Jack Gilbert, and was instrumental in explaining its mission: to serve as a global convener for microbial conservation, studying the impact of environmental disturbances and potential extinction of essential microorganisms.
